Auto Shanghai 2007

I went to the Auto Shanghai 2007 auto show yesterday. It was packed with many people and unfortunately I didn't bring either my other lens or my other camera for taking photos up close. The zoom lens I put on just didn't allow me to get a good shot with so many people. However, I still did manage to snap a few photos and so here is the result of bringing together a few of them.

More to come soon.

One Among the Masses - Revisit

I learned about the history brush in Photoshop today, so I decided to revisit one of my earlier images and play with the history brush: I took the original image from my One Among the Masses posting; I desaturated the image to make it black and white, then I selected the pink flower and used the history brush on it to reveal its former colour; afterwards, I added an outer glow and drop shadow layer styles; and lastly, I added a frame for the presentation (as I've done previously with the Beyond the Edge posting.)

Tiled Flower

This image is created from a photo I took of this flower (not sure what kind) in the parking lot of the Candlewood Suites Hotel when I was staying in Irvine, California, USA.

I remembered coming across an image that was composed of various tiles that constructed the main object of the image.

So, all I've done here is to mimic that style by using the marquee tool and cutting out individual pieces onto their own layers which I then moved around a bit randomly; later I adjusted to what I thought would make for a better look. I added stroke border around the pieces and put a gradient in the background. The purple gradient colour was chosen to complement the yellow of the petals.

Tree Ring

I've used the same technique for the giraffe image presentation as here, except of course I've changed from a rectangular format to a circular one; and I've also added in some text which I think gives it a slightly more artistic conceptual presentation. This photo of the tree was also taken during the trip to the Toronto Zoo.

As always, your comments are welcomed.

Beyond the Edge

I think it was actually my sister that might have taken this photo originally. I've cropped the photo and have given it a framed presentation.

This was at the Toronto Zoo in the late summer of 2004.

Tree Blossom

This image is from a tree just outside our apartment; Gengling had immediately noticed it and said to take a photo (same day as the other photos I took for the Discovery Walk image).

I just used the artistic watercolour filter in Photoshop (default settings) to create this image from the original photo; nothing else was done to modify the image.

RC Car

This is my RC car that I bought here last summer. It was fairly inexpensive; however, it doesn't have the 'kick' that I was hoping for - I would have traded for a smaller size if came with more 'horse-power'.

Discovery Walk

This past Sunday (2007.04.08) we went for a walk around our apartment complex and I took some photos of course... the photos alone may not have been as interesting so I decided to 'photoshop' them together and produced the following:

I learned a few (new) techniques and decided to apply some of this knowledge to my photos. For example, the background is of the marble/granite (whatever rock) ground but I changed the overall hue and saturated it a bit more.

Next, I took some of the more interesting photos I shot and made them into Polaroids; giving them each a drop shadow for a feeling of more depth.

The panoramic shot was taken from my apartment balcony and used the AutoStitch program to stitch the individual photos together to produce the panoramic view (I didn't use the PhotoStitch software that came with my camera because it couldn't install).

I put a white frame around the panorama and also added a drop shadow.

Lastly, I added the '- Discovery Walk -' text with drop shadow, outer glow, and bevel and emboss layer styles.

Comments welcomed.
